OUR STORY

A Journey of Hope & Determination

The start of The Will To Walk Foundation traces back to an 18-year-old who endured a profoundly severe car accident. Kamil Nowak since then has been committed to getting back on his feet. Rehabilitation has proven to work however it can be very expensive.

We have created The Will to Walk Foundation to help with the financial challenges not only for Kamil Nowak, but for others in similar situations in the state of NJ. We have committed to making a positive impact on individuals affected by spinal cord injuries. Join us in our efforts to create real transformation in the lives of those who need it most.

TREATMENT

Stem Cell Treatment

Average cost is around $20,000

Over the past decade, stem cells have demonstrated significant potential and effectiveness in a range of medical applications, leading to major advancements in regenerative medicine and disease treatment. Clinical studies and experimental therapies have shown that stem cells can aid in the repair of damaged tissues, improve outcomes for patients with conditions such as leukemia, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injuries, and even contribute to the regeneration of heart tissue after heart attacks. All funds raised from this point on will be used for Kamil's stem cell treatment and/or other spinal cord patients.

Kamil's Progress Since Stem Cell Treatment

Kamil has made remarkable progress since undergoing stem cell treatment in October. For more than two years prior, his recovery had plateaued, particularly in areas related to core strength, trunk stability, and the ability to maintain standing balance. Following the treatment, Kamil has committed himself to an intensive rehabilitation program and has since achieved several significant milestones.

He is now able to stand with the support of braces without using his arms, demonstrating regained control of his hips, pelvis, and trunk, which allows him to stabilize his body independently. In addition, his walking endurance with braces has improved dramatically, increasing from approximately 40 feet to over 200 feet without needing to stop. Perhaps most notably, Kamil has regained the ability to actively contract key muscle groups including his glutes, hip flexors, and quadriceps. This represents a major breakthrough, as his progress had previously stalled after he regained control of his upper abdominal muscles prior to the stem cell treatment.

Overall, these developments mark a meaningful step forward in Kamil’s recovery and highlight the impact of both the treatment and his continued dedication to rehabilitation.

It was a memorable day filled with laughter and excitement, and Kamil can't wait to hit the slopes again. Thanks to the generous donations from Will to Walk, Kamil was able to afford a new mono ski and has been enjoying it very much ever since.
